Mr Bowyer has a large general
ophthalmic workload in the NHS and routinely manages glaucoma, diabetic
eye disease, macular degeneration and regularly performs modern
phacoemulsification cataract surgery.
His areas of interest include
plastic and aesthetic surgery around the eye, the management of watery
eyes and orbital/socket problems. He has performed subspecialty
fellowships at The Royal Brisbane Hospital, Queensland, Australia and
Moorfield’s Eye Hospital, London. He is experienced in the surgical
management of periocular skin cancer.
He underwent ophthalmic training
at the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham and St. Paul’s Eye Unit at the
Royal Liverpool University Hospital. He was appointed as a consultant
ophthalmic surgeon 4 years ago and was formerly a locum consultant at
Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. He has worked at the University
Hospital of North Staffordshire since July 2005, though lived in the
area since 1993.
He is a member of the British
Medical Association, Royal Society of Medicine and has been invited to
join the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society.
